Draft SCOTUS Opinion Shines Light on DeSantis’ Dangerous and Unpopular Attack on Reproductive Freedom
As new reporting on a draft Supreme Court opinion confirms what many have feared, that the Supreme Court is preparing to overturn the decades-long precedent of Roe v. Wade, Ron DeSantis has already shown he’ll stop at nothing to attack reproductive freedom in Florida.
Polling of Florida voters earlier this year showed that most voters disapproved of DeSantis’ 15-week abortion ban. When voters learn that DeSantis’ dangerous ban has zero exceptions for rape, incest, or human trafficking, opposition grew to 60%.
Florida Democratic Party Executive Director Marcus Dixon released the following statement:
“As Roe v. Wade is threatened like never before, Ron DeSantis and Florida Republicans have already been hard at work taking away our freedoms, including reproductive freedom away from women. In fact, DeSantis’ dangerous new ban on abortion includes zero exceptions for survivors of rape, incest, or human trafficking. Ron DeSantis’ unpopular agenda is to make Florida the most dangerous, punitive, regressive, and unfree state- unless you agree with him at all times.”
