Thank you Democrats!

Democrats are energized throughout the country, throughout the State of Florida, and clearly here in Indian River County.  Yesterday’s turnout of Democrats at the polls was the result of motivated voters and the great ground game by our local volunteers who have been tirelessly canvassing, phone banking, fund raising, and showing up at community events.  I could not be prouder to be a Democrat.  I am thrilled to be the Chair of the Democrats of Indian River.  We are witnessing the Blue Wave.

See Andrew Gillum’s statement on being the Democratic Nominee for Governor here.

I want to thank all the voters of Indian River County who exercised their right to vote yesterday.  I especially want to thank the Democrats who reside in our county.  The Democrats of Indian River made an extremely strong showing in Tuesday’s primary election, more than doubling their turn-out at the polls from 2014, a remarkable feat for an “off-year” primary election!  In fact, more than one-third of all Democrats voted in the primary.

This attention-grabbing triumph by the media is a direct result of the relentless re-building of the Democratic Party in Indian River County since last October.  With a goal of tripling the Democratic Executive Committee’s membership, the DEC is within striking distance.  In addition, we have met our 2018 goal for canvassing doors by threefold.

Perhaps most importantly, candidates have stepped forward to run for office. The Democrats supported Mara Schiff in her bid for School Board District 1 in what is now considered an upset victory over her well-funded challenger.  We also supported Merchon Green, School Board District 2, and Stacey Klim, School Board District 4, in the primary election and will continue to support their run-off races in the General Election.

Please join me now in pouring all our energy into getting Senator Bill Nelson re-elected and electing Andrew Gillum as our next Governor, Sanjay Patel as our U.S. Congressman for House District 8, and Nicole Haagenson as our Florida House Representative, District 54.  These are leaders who we can trust to represent us and put our well-being before their own.

Thank you for everything you have done to make an enormous change in Indian River County and everything we will need to do to Flip Florida Blue in 2018.

Together, we can do this for the future of our county, our State, and our nation.

Join us.  Be part of the solution.

Kim Lorimier, Chair
Democrats of Indian River
