Which races will be on the Democratic Primary Ballot?

View the Democratic primary ballot here. Florida is a closed primary state, so only voters registered with a political party may vote for their respective party’s candidates in the primary. However, if all candidates for an office share the same party affiliation and the winner of the Primary Election will not face opposition in the General Election, then all registered voters may vote for any of the candidates for that office in the Primary Election.

 

 

Which local elections will be determined in the Primary Election?

Voters who vote in the Primary Election will determine our Tax Collector, County Commissioners in Districts 1 and 3, School Board Members in Districts 3 and 5.

 

 

Which Tax Collector Candidates will be on the Primary Ballot?

Brenda Bradley and incumbent Carole Jean Jordan are running for Tax Collector in the Primary Election. Because both candidates are registered Republicans and no other party filed to run in the race, Democrats will have both candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election.

 

 

Which County Commission Candidates will be on the Primary Ballot?

Because all County Commissioner candidates in Districts 1 and 3 are registered Republicans and no other party filed to run in these races, Democrats will have the following candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election.

District 1: Susan Adams and Timothy Borden
District 3: Joseph Earman, Stephen Hume and David Shaw

 

 

Which School Board Candidates will be on the Primary Ballot?

Because School Board races are nonpartisan, Democrats will have the following candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election.

District 3: Peggy Jones and Robert MacCallum
District 5: David Dyer and Kevin McDonald

 

 

Which U.S. Senate Candidates will be on the Primary Ballot?

Democrats will have the following candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election: Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Stanley Campbell, Rod Joseph and Brian Rush

 

 

Which U.S. Representative Candidates will be on the Primary Ballot?

Democrats will have the following candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election: Daniel McDow and Sandy Kennedy.

 

 

Which Florida State Supreme Court Justices will be on the November Ballot for retention?

Two of seven justices on the Florida Supreme Court are up for retention election— Renatha Francis and Meredith Sasso. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appointed both justices to the supreme court. As of May 2023, all seven judges on the court were appointed by a Republican governor.

 

 

Which Hospital District Seat 7 Candidates will be on the November Ballot?

Because Hospital Board races are nonpartisan, Democrats will have the following candidates on their ballot when they vote in the August Primary election: Deborah Shellenberger, Michael Weiss and William Cooney.
