Local Area Scholarships Awarded
Graduating seniors from Vero Beach, Sebastian and Indian River Charter high schools were presented college scholarships by the Democratic Women’s Club of Indian River County during ceremonies at the Vero Beach Country Club.
Awarded for excellence in academics, involvement in school activities, dedication to community service, and commitment to Democratic principles, the $1,000 grants went to Shannon Jessup, Elizabeth Tuite, Sierra Ritchey, Giovanna Mompremier and Hanna Nuttall. The five are considered the best and the brightest among dozens of DWC scholarship applicants.
Guest speaker Julia Keenan, scholarship development coordinator at the Indian River State College Foundation, discussed “Including Luck in Your Journey” with the scholars, parents, members and guests attending the April event.
The annual scholarship program, which has been funded and presented by the DWC of IRC for nearly 30 years, is the result of the generosity of members and their dedication to assisting future leaders.
