The Democrats of Indian River to Present Documentary on Trans Awareness in the Military

The Democrats of Indian River are proud to present a free screening of the documentary Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story, in support of LGBTQ awareness and, specifically, trans awareness in the military. The screening will be held Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Majestic 11 Theaters in Vero Beach.

Christopher Beck served 20 years as a member of the elite Navy Seals Team 1, and retired in 2011 with the rank of senior chief. Lady Valor chronicles the transgender journey of Kristin Beck as she navigates her new life as a transgender woman, including her continuing struggle to gain the freedoms she fought for in the service to her county.  The film includes interviews with Beck, her family and friends, as well as footage of Christopher Beck in combat.

A short reception will be held from 6:00-6:45pm with guest speakers Wes Davis, Field Organizer for Equality Florida, and Captain Doy Demsick, USMC Veteran.
