Florida’s Democratic Women’s Club Unveils New Resolution

WHEREAS, Donald Trump’s administration has ordered Department of Homeland Security troops into cities without the knowledge and consent of local elected officials; and

WHEREAS, these federal troops are hiding their identities, kidnapping American citizens, and denying them their civil rights; and

WHEREAS, these federal troops are being used to advance President Trump’s political agenda for the November election by participating in a manufactured “law and order” campaign; and

WHEREAS, Governor DeSantis puts the political agenda of President Trump ahead of the rights and security of Floridians; and

WHEREAS, the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida opposes President Trump’s authoritarian threats of police action;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida calls on Florida’s state attorneys to prosecute any federal troops that engage in unlawful and unconstitutional police actions within their jurisdictions; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida calls on Governor DeSantis and Attorney General Ashley Moody to stand for democracy and oppose all efforts to impose authoritarian rule in Florida; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida calls on Florida’s Democratic elected officials, and all elected officials who support democracy, to direct local law enforcement to intervene in, investigate and halt unidentified federal officers detaining civilians without notice, cause or due process.
